When it comes to Ben Franklins inventions, they're not just a new name on the same old product.
Each product he made was built to improve efficiency on previous tools for that task. The easiest example would be the Bifocal lenses. Before this time, those hard of seeing would have to switch from one pair of glasses to another for objects near and far, and with this innovation one pair could be used for both.
Another major innovative product Franklin created was the Glass Armonica, which was built to be a much smaller version of water filled glasses. Being an avid musician, this was Ben's favorite invention. It was built so that it wasn't the amount of water that decided the tone but the size of the glass bowl, and each glass bowl was larger than the previous and fit inside in one neat row. This made transportation and set up and use much easier.
